Cyber Monday highlights need for integrated POS software

Many consumers spent some time out at the malls trying to take advantage of the deals that come along during the recent holiday weekend. It is the biggest shopping season of the year, but for many merchants it is just starting to get underway.

According to a survey from the National Retail Federation, 141 million Americans spent money over the holiday weekend. However, 131 million shoppers plan to log in today and make a purchase during Cyber Monday.

"Despite record-breaking online shopping Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, holiday shoppers aren't done yet – we expect Cyber Monday to be bigger than ever," NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said in the report.

A report from American Express took things a step further. The study found that more consumers are expected to shop online during Cyber Monday than visit a brick-and-mortar on Black Friday. According to the numbers from last year, online shopping is becoming the most popular shopping day of the year as more individuals say they plan to shop online than in an actual store on Black Friday (55 percent versus 39 percent) and the online sales are more intriguing to a larger number of shoppers than those the day after Thanksgiving (52 percent versus 45 percent).

For businesses to be successful during this time, it is crucial to have an integrated POS software solution that can bring transaction information from any platform into one system. This is easy to accomplish with the help of a retail solution provider that focuses on every aspect of a payment process.
