VISA Interchange Rate Hike Postponed
Visa Interchange Rates Postponed Until April 2021
Visa recently announced that the majority of their interchange rate changes previously announced for April and October 2020 in the U.S. are now deferred to April 2021, with two exceptions:
- Visa will move forward with consolidating downgrade categories such as EIRF and Standard into a new Non-Qualified interchange program effective July 2020, but will apply a blended rate that should result in minimal/no financial change to our customers. The originally published rate for Non-Qualified will be applied in April 2021.
- Previously announced changes to consumer credit Supermarket rates will still be effective July 2020. These have minimal impact to our customers.
Customers on an interchange pass-through pricing structure can expect to see pass-through rate changes as previously communicated.
Elavon postponed all rate changes in late March and notified customers accordingly. There are currently no plans to reschedule those rate changes.
